警方推翻周正龙拍摄活体野生华南虎真实性基础
据陕西警方介绍，公安机关介入后，通过周正龙所拍虎照进行分析研究，在距镇坪县城关镇文 彩村15公里的神州湾马道子林区北坡，找到了“拍虎”地点，通过对“拍虎”现场重现后证实，周正龙拍摄时距“虎”最近距离约3.9米，最远距离约10.5 米，从根本上推翻了周正龙拍摄活体野生华南虎真实性的基础。在后来的侦查中，周正龙交代了其为骗取钱财用老虎画拍摄华南虎照片的犯罪事实。
周正龙交待“拍虎”过程
据周正龙交待，2006年为陕西省华南虎调查队做向导期间，周正龙听调查队队员讲，如果 能拍到华南虎的足迹、粪便、毛发，便可得到千元至万元的奖励；拍到活体野生华南虎照片，就可得到100万元以上的奖励，对其触动很大。特别是去年8月前 后，镇坪县政府对其做调查队向导颁发了荣誉证书和1000元奖金，更加刺激了周正龙拍摄虎照，获取利益的欲望。

去年10月3日上午，周正龙带上向其妻的堂弟、镇坪县经贸局局长谢坤元借来的佳能牌数码 相机和长城牌胶片相机各1部，在马道子林区发现了一个地势相对平坦、地面杂草灌木丛生、覆盖大量落叶的地方，便将其作为拍虎地点。周正龙将折叠后的老虎画 放置于一棵小树前，用树叶遮盖住了老虎画的边缘，并于下午4时30分左右，从近远不同的位置，用胶片相机和数码相机交替拍摄了假虎照。

今年4月初，周正龙在村民易某的帮助下，用事先制作的木质虎爪模具，在镇坪县北草坡的雪地里，捺印假虎爪痕迹后拍照，仍企图继续行骗。
